Wednesday March 21, 2007 8pm...I was at our monthly photography club meeting and photo contest. It was a fun night. Happy to see friends once again, exchanging jokes and banters here and there. New members were introduced and I'm glad to add them to my list of new friends, be it personal and online.

I was so impressed with the turn out of entries (even attendance) on the photo contest. It's by far the most number of submission and the quality of the images are just great. I think I have to pat myself on the back for a job well done. As you know, I was in charge in bugging all the members to submit their entries. I guess my efforts paid off. Hehehehehe.

Our three judges that night, an architect, a professional photographer and a lady creative director, were overwhelmed by the images they saw. They seem frustrated on choosing which one is their favorite.

When the tabulation of scores comes, I wasn't expecting the 2 images I submitted would have a fighting chance with all those great photos by the others. I was not paying attention to it. I'm just seating quiet on the side...chatting to someone from time to time...just waiting for the winners. As it was announced...I didn't see nor hear that my 2 images got called.

I expected it but I felt a little sadness for myself...
As the night ended, I went home resigned that my images were no good.

The following day....surprise...surprise...surprise...I was informed, one of my image got in! There was an honest mistake on the scoring. The photo contest committee re-tabulated the scores and mine just came out to be included among the winners. Whew!

Now, I'm happy. I got one good photo after all. Hehehehehe.

By the way, most of the winning images are from the new members. Veterans were caught off guard. I guess we (the officers) made a good choice in choosing them to become part of the club. And for that, a new standard has been set. Quality...Quality...Quality as we always says.

This also pose a new challenge for me. I have to compete to more than 40 great photographers in our club.

I can only say....BRING IT ON!!!
